Open Enrollment


Open Enrollment – (Must be completed annually)

We recognize the desire of some parents/guardians to enroll their children in a school other than their neighborhood school, from either within or outside of the Lewiston School District. If you are interested in applying for admission to a school in our District, please follow these Open Enrollment application procedures. Section 33-1402, Idaho Code, requires annual application for open enrollment on a form provided by the State Department of Education and available at all schools or the District Office.


Revocation of Open Enrollment:

The Director of Student Services reserves the right to remove an Open Enrollment student at any time because of unacceptable behavior, false or misleading information on the open enrollment application, lack of academic progress, or poor attendance.

Open Enrollment consideration is based upon Policy 5070 8


Letter of Intent

  1. Fill out the Letter of Intent Application if your student is currently on open enrollment and you are wanting to request the enrollment at the current school for the following school year.

In-District Open Enrollment Information:

  1. Fill out the In District Open Enrollment Application
  2. Return the completed form to the District Office ( 3317 12th St) or email to District Registrar
  3. Your application will be reviewed by the Director of Student Services and a decision to approve or deny will be made. In District applications are based on enrollment numbers at the receiving school.
  4. Transportation – Parents/Guardians are responsible for transportation of the transferred student to the nearest bus stop, if served by busing, or to the school in the event that no busing is offered.
  5. Open enrollment applications will be accepted at any time throughout the year.

Out-of-District Open Enrollment Information:

  1. Fill out the Out of District Open Enrollment Form
  2. Return the completed form to the District Office ( 3317 12th St) or email to District Registrar
    • First time applicants must also attach cumulative student records.
  3. Your application will be reviewed by the Director of Student Services and a decision to approve or deny will be made. Out of District applications are based on enrollment numbers, attendance and academics.
  4. Transportation is provided by parents.
  5. Open enrollment applications will be accepted at any time throughout the year. Applications will be reviewed in-district applications have been reviewed.

The District has established the following class sizes as target numbers for year-to-year operation.

            20:1 Grades K-3

            23:1 Grades 4-5

            18:1 Grades 6-12

            12:1 Tammany High School

Class Ratios used for admitting students with disabilities into the District’s Special Education Program shall be:

            14:1 Special Education Services

            14:1 Speech Language Pathologist Services

            14:1 Physical/Occupational Therapy

Enrollment capacity numbers will be updated on a monthly base on the 1st Friday of every month. Please note that numbers are subject to change on a daily bases.
