The District has Several Life Insurance Options Available – See below:

United Life Insurance Heritage Company:
Full time employees are provided with $20,000 Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance through United Heritage Insurance Company.

Certificate of Insurance for Full Time Employees:

United Heritage Supplemental Life & AD&D Insurance
Full time employees are eligible to purchase additional Supplemental Life and AD&D insurance an additional cost to the employee through employee payroll deduction.

United Heritages Life Insurances are available within 30 days of employment or becoming benefit eligible.  There is NO annual open enrollment.

NCPERS Voluntary Life Insurance:
Full time and part time benefit eligible employees are eligible to purchase NCPERS Voluntary Life Insurance.  Coverage is available at a lower group cost through the NCPERS -National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems.  Every member, regardless of age, pays the same cost of $16 a month.  Your cost does not increase with your age.  The plan pays a maximum benefit amount in your younger years and gradually decreasing benefit amount in your older years. This benefit would coverage you, your spouse/partner and dependent children.

“How Can I Enroll?

  • You may enroll within 90 days of the date of your benefit eligible employment.      OR
  • You may enroll during the annual open enrollment period, which is September 1st through November 30th annually.

American Fidelity – Life Insurance:
Full time and part time benefit eligible employees are eligible to purchase American Fidelity Life Insurance. Ensuring your family is financially covered in the event of a loss is an important way of showing them you care about their needs.  Life Insurance can help.

There are various plans available to you, including both Term Life and Whole Life Insurance. 

Annual enrollment starts in Mid-October through the first week of December, for the Plan Year starting January 1st annually.  It is necessary to re-enroll each plan year.  The District will notify you of the enrollment schedule by email and place the enrollment schedules  in the staff lounges.
