The Lewiston Independent School District is proud to announce the hire of Kathleen Tetwiler as the new Assistant Principal of Sacajawea Middle School, beginning with the 2025–2026 school year.
Ms. Tetwiler brings over two decades of experience in education and leadership, most recently serving as an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Orofino Jr./Sr. High School. During her tenure from 2020 to 2024, she played a vital role in staff recruitment and evaluation, student discipline management, 504 coordination, and professional development. Her extensive background also includes service as a Principal with the Idaho Digital Learning Academy, where she supervised statewide staff and led instructional planning and support.
"Kathleen is an educational leader whose passion for student growth and staff development is evident in all she does," said Corey Williams, incoming Principal of Sacajawea Middle School. "Her ability to lead with both structure and compassion will be a strong asset to our school community."
Tetwiler has served in a variety of leadership roles at both the school and state levels, including as a Board of Control Representative for the Idaho High School Activities Association and as a State Board Member for the Idaho Athletic Administrators Association. Her accomplishments include hosting two Idaho State Athletic Championships and receiving a nomination for the 2023 Marquis Ross “Promising New Athletic Director” Award.
A lifelong educator, Tetwiler also has deep roots in music education. She was named the Idaho Music Educator of the Year in 2019–2020 and has taught vocal and instrumental music at all grade levels. She has directed large-scale events such as the 300+ member Choral Fest and has developed innovative music curriculum, including a distance learning course for Music Appreciation.
In addition to her instructional and leadership experience, Tetwiler has worked extensively with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), serving as a school coordinator and coach specialist, and facilitating data-driven decision-making to improve school climate and student behavior.
Ms. Tetwiler is known for her collaborative spirit, dedication to student success, and strong communication skills. The Lewiston Independent School District looks forward to the positive impact she will bring to Sacajawea Middle School.

· One of Kelli’s standout qualities is her attention to detail. She takes great care to ensure that every task is completed with accuracy.
· Kelli is an organization powerhouse.
· Kelli is the heart of the Curriculum Department, working tirelessly to support staff, students, and parents with unwavering dedication, efficiency, and kindness.
Kelli is currently employed as a District Administrative Assistant with the Curriculum Department. She has been employed with the District since June 5, 2013.



Jenifer Middle School 8th grade band, choir and orchestra attended the District II Large Group Music Festival in Grangeville. All three groups performed exceptionally. This is a great opportunity for JMS's outstanding musicians to shine and showcase their talent!

It is Spring Concert time! This concert featured the Orchards Elementary and McSorley Elementary bands, the Orchards Elementary choir, and it was the debut of the Orchards morning instrumental. All ensembles were directed by Jordan Berry.

The Lewiston Independent School District Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hire of Angela Baldus as the new Assistant Superintendent, effective for the 2025-2026 academic year. Ms. Baldus is scheduled to assume her responsibilities on July 1, 2025.
A native of Nezperce, Idaho, Angela Baldus was raised in a close-knit farming community and spent significant time in the LC Valley, engaging in local activities and community events. Her strong Idaho roots and profound appreciation for small-town values render her return to the region particularly significant.
Ms. Baldus earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho in 2002, followed by a Master of Education from the University of Idaho Boise Center in 2005. Her educational career commenced in 2002 as a first-grade teacher at Meridian Elementary. In 2005, she transitioned into school administration and has accumulated 18 years of experience serving as a building principal in various districts.
Her leadership experience includes serving as Vice Principal at Orofino Elementary and Orofino Junior High from 2007 to 2008, followed by her role as Principal at Orofino Elementary from 2008 to 2012. She then took on the position of Principal at Highland Elementary in Clarkston from 2012 to 2020, and as Principal at Royal Intermediate School in Royal City, Washington, from 2020 to 2024. Ms. Baldus has been recognized as an outstanding leader, having received the Gem Award from the Idaho Association of Elementary School Principals for the 2008-2009 school year, as well as being honored as the 2015 Washington State Regional Distinguished Principal.
In her latest endeavor, she has returned to the classroom at Orchards Elementary in Lewiston to teach Transitional Kindergarten, a new district-wide program designed for incoming kindergarten students.
Ms. Baldus expresses her enthusiasm about the opportunity to join the Lewiston School District as Assistant Superintendent. From her initial interactions with the district, she has been impressed by its strong commitment to ensuring high levels of learning for all students. The dedication to both academic achievement and the social-emotional well-being of students is evident in every interaction. She looks forward to collaborating with the talented team of educators, staff, and families to continue fostering an environment where every student can reach their highest potential.
The District is excited to partner with Ms. Baldus, whose unwavering passion for student learning and strong commitment to community-centered education perfectly align with our mission and vision. We are confident that her leadership will drive high levels of learning for all students through meaningful collaboration with our community. Ms. Baldus is dedicated to empowering students by delivering engaging and equitable education in a safe environment each and every day.

-Marjorie goes above and beyond her job responsibilities each day, ensuring that students receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
-Beyond her daily responsibilities, Marjorie effortlessly demonstrates leadership, kindness, and a true passion for students and staff, provides invaluable assistance, and contributes to support school culture making her a truly deserving candidate for this award.
-Beyond her exceptional work with students, Margie is a leader in her role. Colleagues look up to her for guidance, support and inspiration.

Marjorie is currently employed as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at McSorley Elementary School. She has been employed with the District since September 21, 2006.



Mrs. Wicks's class from Camelot Elementary had a great time traveling upriver into Hells Canyon. These trips, sponsored by the LIFE board, provide every 4th grade student in the district with the opportunity to learn Idaho history and make incredible memories!

We are proud to announce that Jennifer Gomez, principal of Orchards Elementary School, has been named Idaho’s 2025 National Distinguished Principal by the Idaho Association of School Administrators (IASA) and the Idaho Association of Elementary School Principals (IAESP).
This prestigious recognition honors Mrs. Gomez’s exceptional leadership, her unwavering commitment to educational excellence, and her dedication to students, staff, and the greater community. Her innovative and student-centered approach to school leadership has earned admiration from colleagues and educators across the state.
Under Mrs. Gomez’s guidance, Orchard Elementary has flourished both academically and culturally. Most notably, the school was awarded the Model PLC School designation earlier this year, reflecting its strong commitment to collaborative professional learning communities and continuous improvement.

At a recent school board meeting, LHS Foods 2 students prepared crème brûlée for board members. While making the dessert, they learned how to use a kitchen torch and what a ramekin is. In the Foods 2 class, students explore the cuisines of various countries, learning how regional demographics, culture, and religious beliefs influence the foods people eat.




Students from Sacajawea Middle School and Lewiston High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapters were among the nearly 7,000 attendees representing almost 800 school chapters who attended the 2025 BPA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, May 7-11.
While in Orlando, students vied for top honors in BPA’s Workplace Skill Assessment Program competitions, which cover the areas of business administration; digital communication and design; finance; health administration; information technology; and management, marketing and communication.
The students from the Sacajawea Middle School BPA chapter who attended the National Leadership Conference were: Sydney Bagley and Hayden Smith.
Not only was this the first time Idaho has had a middle school chapter compete at the national level but both students were also finalists and called onto the stage.
