Representatives from Lewiston High School’s The Bengal yearbook staff attended the Idaho Journalism Workshop in Boise, where they spent three days preparing for the 87th volume of the yearbook. While there, they competed with students from across the state in a photography contest. Morgan Thayer earned Best Action Shot (see photo #9), and Abi White received an Honorable Mention for her emotion entry (see photo #10). Congrats to these talented Bengals!

Congratulations to School Resource Officer, Robert Kent, who is currently assigned to Jenifer Middle School. He was awarded the Behavioral Health Support Award given out by the Idaho School Resource Officer Association (IDASRO). SRO Kent was 1 of only 5 award winners out of 76 nominations throughout the State of Idaho. His award recognized his effort in addressing the impact of mental health, psychological trauma, emotional well-being, and substance use towards student achievement.

Summer learning students put their engineering skills to the test with a hands-on bridge-building STEM project! Each bridge was tested to its limit (until it broke or they ran out of weights). The winning design held nearly 100 pounds and never broke!
Special thanks to Dutch Bros LC Valley and Java Stop for donating gift cards as prizes; your support truly motivated our students and made the challenge even more exciting!

In May, students from Lewiston and Tammany High Schools attended the GRIT Conference at Lewis-Clark State College and Walla Walla Community College to explore hands-on careers in the trades.

GRIT—Girls Rising in Trades—is a partnership between YWCA Lewiston-Clarkston, LCSC, and WWCC. The program empowers young women in grades 9–12 to discover non-traditional career paths through hands-on workshops and mentorship.

These students left feeling inspired and ready to take on new challenges!

Middle School Summer School students put their design and engineering skills to the test in an exciting egg drop competition. Some eggs survived, others didn’t—but all students practiced critical thinking and problem-solving throughout the challenge. A big thank you to Mrs. Kolb for bravely going up 100 feet in the bucket to drop the eggs, and to the Lewiston Fire Department for volunteering their time to make this an unforgettable hands-on learning experience.
