Superintendent Sperber and Assistant Superintendent Baldus met yesterday with the Lewiston Police Department, Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office, and Lewiston Fire Department for the annual Safe and Secure Schools Protocol meeting. This ongoing partnership helps keep our schools prepared, protected, and focused on student safety all year long.
Middle school summer learning students gained valuable astronomy knowledge at the Washington State University planetarium, learned about and visited the bears at the bear center, and enjoyed some delicious ice cream from Ferdinand’s! Thank you to WSU and Ferdinand’s for supporting our students.

Congratulations to School Resource Officer, Robert Kent, who is currently assigned to Jenifer Middle School. He was awarded the Behavioral Health Support Award given out by the Idaho School Resource Officer Association (IDASRO). SRO Kent was 1 of only 5 award winners out of 76 nominations throughout the State of Idaho. His award recognized his effort in addressing the impact of mental health, psychological trauma, emotional well-being, and substance use towards student achievement.

Summer learning students put their engineering skills to the test with a hands-on bridge-building STEM project! Each bridge was tested to its limit (until it broke or they ran out of weights). The winning design held nearly 100 pounds and never broke!
Special thanks to Dutch Bros LC Valley and Java Stop for donating gift cards as prizes; your support truly motivated our students and made the challenge even more exciting!

Summer learning students at Sacajawea Middle School participated in a special flag ceremony to retire the old flag and raise a new one. A heartfelt thank you to Craig Hannum for leading the ceremony and thoughtfully answering the many questions from our curious students!

In May, students from Lewiston and Tammany High Schools attended the GRIT Conference at Lewis-Clark State College and Walla Walla Community College to explore hands-on careers in the trades.
GRIT—Girls Rising in Trades—is a partnership between YWCA Lewiston-Clarkston, LCSC, and WWCC. The program empowers young women in grades 9–12 to discover non-traditional career paths through hands-on workshops and mentorship.
These students left feeling inspired and ready to take on new challenges!

The Creative Carnival at Sacajawea Middle School was a great success! Organized and run by students with guidance from their teacher, Miss Rachael, the event raised funds for the After School Art Program. Activities included popcorn, Lotus drinks, henna tattoos, paint-by-number, cookie decorating, student art for sale, face painting, and more!

Middle School Summer School students put their design and engineering skills to the test in an exciting egg drop competition. Some eggs survived, others didn’t—but all students practiced critical thinking and problem-solving throughout the challenge. A big thank you to Mrs. Kolb for bravely going up 100 feet in the bucket to drop the eggs, and to the Lewiston Fire Department for volunteering their time to make this an unforgettable hands-on learning experience.
Jenifer Middle School’s Life Skills class, along with peer mentors, visited Legacy Lamb Farms in Winchester! Students got to meet an author, learn about raising lambs, and even tie-dye Peet the Sheep! A fun-filled day of hands-on learning and unforgettable memories.

Centennial Elementary had a great time participating in the annual district-wide 5th Grade Track Meet! 🏃♂️

The Lewiston High School Marching Band proudly represented our community as they marched in the Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C.! 🇺🇸🥁🎺
McSorley Elementary students saved up their Tiger BEST tickets, which they earn for doing their “BEST” every single day. When a staff member sees a student showing their Tiger BEST, they give the student a ticket. Students saved up their tickets for a chance to pie a teacher in the face... and they chose their principal, Mr. Kronemann!

Middle School Summer Learning students went to Winchester State Park. With the help of Idaho Fish and Game, students fished, hiked, and did crafts. Thank you IDFG for supporting our students!
