Shoutout to Kate Metz, science teacher at Tammany High School! This summer, Kate participated in the Idaho STEM Action Center’s Educator Externship Program, which connects teachers with real-world STEM experiences in Idaho industries. The program helps educators gain hands-on career knowledge they can bring back to their classrooms.

Kate partnered with NCCE (Northwest Council for Computer Education), a nonprofit that supports teachers with digital tools, training, and technology integration.

Kate shared: “Everyone had the same goal. Helping educators learn! I have learned so much from my work, not only about NCCE, but all the amazing resources out there (free!) that I had no idea about.”

Because of experiences like Kate’s, students will get to enjoy even more engaging, hands-on science learning this year.
