The Lewiston School District Indian Education Program & The Nez Perce Tribe would like to invite the community to the Spokane Ensemble Theatre production of "According to Coyote" by John Kauffman, in partnership with Red Eagle Soaring. This production, featuring Coyote, the legendary hero of American Indian mythology, is an encounter with the richness and vitality of Native American culture using age-old traditions of music, dance, and theatre. Directed by the playwright’s niece, Josephine Keefe, and performed by Nez Perce actor, Kellen Trenal, this one-man show is a testament to storytelling and family history.

Introducing a new recurring series—by students, for students, with students! Each week, we’ll feature students and staff in posts called “Students Behind the Lens, Students in Focus” and “Students Behind the Lens, Staff in Focus.” Principals from across the district will select someone to spotlight, and our digital media students will handle the photography, interviews, and graphic design to celebrate them.

First up: McGhee Elementary’s Hayden Whitlock! When asked about his favorite part of school, Hayden said, “I am excited for PE, and I really want to learn math. Plus, I’ll probably get to do some hard stuff this year.”

Congratulations to the 2025–2026 Elementary Teacher of the Year,
Amy Kronemann!

For 20 years, this teacher has been shaping young minds, building confidence,
and creating classrooms where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to learn.
She’s taught first grade. She’s taught third grade.
She’s coached volleyball. She’s coached basketball.
And through it all, she’s taught her students how to work hard,
stay humble when they win,
and never give up when they lose.
Her teaching partner of nine years calls her the “go-to person” for just about everything:
✔ Need a strategy for a tricky lesson? Ask Amy.
✔ Need advice on student behavior? Ask Amy.
✔ Need perspective to keep going? Ask Amy.
As a PLC Lead, she brings educators together, shares best practices,
and makes sure no teacher feels like they’re in this work alone.
Her leadership is steady. Her kindness is constant.
And her dedication—to her students, her colleagues, and her school—runs deep.
For two decades, she has made learning meaningful, built strong relationships,
and raised the bar for excellence across our district.
Today, we celebrate not just her years of service,
but the way she’s shaped lives—in the classroom, on the court, and throughout Lewiston schools.
