Ramsy

Ramsey, a cute and fluffy guinea pig has been hanging out with our Centennial 2nd grade classes and is just adorable. Of course, everybody wants to hold, touch, squeeze and feed their little pet. This little guy brightens the classroom and provides student life lessons.

Taking care of pets teaches responsibility, empathy, and compassion, boosting the student self-esteem and provides social skills through tasks like feeding and walking, while providing unconditional love, reducing stress, and offering valuable lessons on life, growth, and loss. Guinea pigs are small, gentle rodent often kept as a pet. They’re known for their round bodies, short legs, and friendly personalities. Native to South America, guinea pigs are social animals that thrive in pairs or groups and communicate through a variety of squeaks, chirps, and purrs.

They enjoy fresh vegetables, hay, and specially formulated pellets, and they need plenty of space to move around. With proper care, guinea pigs can live 5–8 years and make affectionate, low-maintenance companions.
