Hello,
We are now three weeks into the school year. Our staff and students are beginning to learn all the nuances of our new campus. This will be an ongoing process and we will improve our procedures and routines as we go.
We are asking to please help us stay in the green and support our students in their wearing of face coverings. We are also asking them to use their own face coverings when they can. We are going through a number of our disposable masks. We do understand when they cannot wear their own and our masks will be provided for them. It takes a team to stay in the green.
Our lunches are being streamlined and we are becoming more efficient getting our students through. Departing traffic continues to be a slow process. I am continuing to ask parents to park in the loading zone from the tennis courts up the auditorium. This has assisted us in streamlining traffic flow.
I want all of you to know that we offer multiple supports for our students here at Lewiston High School. Two of those supports are what we call Evening Academy and Saturday School.
Evening Academy is an extended opportunity for students to makeup missed work, access school technology, and resources, get additional instructional help, and makeup exams. Students must bring a photo ID or their student identification cards. Attendance is taken at all sessions. It is held in the Library every Tuesday and Thursday. Extra help is available in Science and Math on Tuesdays. Evening Academy runs from 6:00-8:00 PM on these nights.
Saturday school is another extended opportunity for students to makeup missed work, access school technology and resources, get additional instructional help, and makeup exams. Students must bring a photo ID or their student identification cards. Attendance is taken at all sessions. Saturday school is also used to make up for missed time at school and disciplinary issues. Saturday school is run from 8:00 AM to Noon on most Saturdays.
We have changed a few numbers in our transition to the new campus. Attendance is probably our most used number. Our attendance office can now be reached at 208-748-3118. When checking out students we ask that you call to check your son or daughter out of school. You do not have to enter the building to check them out. You can call Lainey or Lori in attendance and let them know you are here to check your son or daughter out. We will then send them out to meet you.
