The District is in continuous contact with Idaho Public Health North Central District, so we can respond quickly to their recommendations, guidance and direction. Together we will share awareness of health and safety precautions and make decisions that will best serve the students, staff and community of the District.

What is the Lewiston School District doing to prevent the spread of coronavirus?

We communicate daily with the Idaho Public Health North Central District authorities to receive the most up to date information.

We regularly clean frequently touched surfaces with a approved disinfectant product.

We separate ill students and staff from others.

We continue to reinforce the need for proper hand washing or use of hand sanitizer. Our hand sanitizer is approved as effective for coronavirus.

We continue to reinforce the process covering coughs and sneezes.

We communicate with families to reinforce that children who are sick should not come to school.

When should my child stay home sick from school?

Students should stay home sick if they have a fever of 99 degrees or higher. Students need to be fever-free for 24 hours (without the aid of fever reducing medications) before returning to school. This will help ensure that the fever is truly gone and that your child is past the point of being contagious. Please visit the CDC website for more information.

Should schools be closed right now to protect our children?

At this time, the Idaho Public Health North Central District does not recommend proactively suspending public school operations. Currently, the risk of contracting COVIC-19 is any of our schools remains low and we are encouraging students, staff and visitors to take recommended precautions to prevent the spread of this virus.

The District is closely monitoring the information from the Idaho Public Health North Central District and preparing for any potential disruptions to the daily school operations. We are taking additional precautions when disinfecting surfaces per recommended health protocols during daily cleaning efforts in our schools.
